An Afterthought

Yes, I am talking about Easter. It was a complete afterthought this year. Lots going on with the wedding and all and it was hard to think about Easter.

Miraculously the Easter bunny did remember to leave the baskets. The boys got me up at 6:30 wanting to do baskets. I crawled out of my warm bed to hear their giggles and watch them tear into stuff. The main gift this year were "Bakugan's". They looove these things. Little balls that pop open and they battle with them. Whatever .. they were in heaven.

Hayley woke up just long enough to grab her basket, take it back up to her room and crawl back in the bed.

I know what Easter is all about. Christ's resurrection. Honestly, I had a hard time feeling it this year. I had to listen to fighting and complaining about having to go to church ALL MORNING from the kids. "Please mom, this is a frickin' holiday .. do we HAVE to go to church?!" (Jackson) When I explain what Easter is all about .. dear Hayley says "yes, mom ALL the reason to stay home as a family".

We were late. What else is new? I walked in and sat down in the back and realized not one of my children followed me in. I was alone in my row. I got up and physically had to drag them in. As I sat trying to "feel" the special musical program, beside me all three of them were fighting with each other.
Wasn't working for me this year.

Better luck next ...

My friend Allyson rescued my day by inviting us over for dinner and a hunt after church. Good thing as I had no food in the house much less anything that resembled an Easter dinner. We were fat and happy leaving her house later that night. Thanks Ally!!!

It takes a village right?
