
I am so totally ADDICTED to this class. Don't tell my partner Alana .. but I think I would go everyday if I could.
I have joined 24 Hour Fitness just so I can do this class twice a week. Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon. It's a great class. I wasn't sure I liked one of the teachers at first. The Thursday instructor is quite... well .. butch, maybe that is a good word? She works me harder than the Tuesday girl and is always always talking or singing during the middle of it all. I found that to be annoying at first but now I actually look forward to her classes the most. She keeps me motivated, focused and distracted all at the same time. It's a good mix.
Melissa has started joining us for spin as well. With this .. really - the more the merrier. It's nice to go to this class ... and laugh with good friends at the same time.
I think this is helping my running as well. I feel stronger. The word 'spinning' might sound a bit 'gay' (I'll use Eli's word here) - they need a harsher term for this class. 'Spinning' just sounds so easy .. and it's FAR from easy. I haven't ever been challenged in cardio like this ever before. I sweat during this class. A lot. In fact .. it drips from my eyelids.
Yesterday though, the three of us decided that we would go to a random Friday 9:30 class. Yeah, never ever again. Freaks. I tell ya... these girls were ready to punch you in the face for a bike. I have never seen anything like that. "Vicious Bitches" is how I would describe the environment. Holy hell ... I was scared. Then trying to keep up with the anorexic in front of me who was spinning like she was on speed.
What in the world could be different from a 9:30 crowd verses a noon class?
I just know I'll take my laid-back noon class any day. Stress and spinning at the same time isn't good for your health. I mean, it's like I wanted to keep looking over my shoulder to see if I was going to get pushed off...
I do think I am going to have to get me some cycling shoes. Wonder if they come in pink?

What exactly is spinning? Is it a form of stationary cycling?
