Aquarium

It's that (dreaded) time of the year again. Winter, yes .. AND the boys have their off-track period of time. This is the worst off-track during the whole year. It's in the middle of winter. I can't just send them outside and tell them to play. It's cold. They are cooped up inside. WITH ME.

So I asked them to think of something they would both like to do. They came up with the aquarium. I think I asked them three times if they were ABSOLUTELY sure of this. (remember .. not the museum kind of girl ...). They were. And they were excited.

So Friday (I sucked in my breath to brace) we packed up and drove up to downtown Denver to the aquarium. Discovered it was 'family night'. That was pretty cool. Tickets were cheaper and there were more things to do. They had an ubber cool Spongebob 4-D ride. We did that first to get the night started. I realized that perhaps it wasn't going to be as painful as I had anticipated. There was a RIDE, after all.

We then continued to go through and look at all the fish and sharks and cool underwater life. We ended up getting there right at 5pm. Bonus .. NO ONE was there. We basically had the place to ourselves. Have to say it was really neat. The boys didn't fight or argue once.

At the end .. there are manta rays you can 'pet'. We fed them. Well, we tried. Eli refused so Jackson and I got the fish and fed them like we were supposed to. The first time. They come up and like cover your hand and suck the fish away from you. Uh .. freaky. For the rest of our fish .. we just put them in the water and let the things suck them off the bottom of the tank.

We then did facepainting (yup, me too). Jackson got a shark .. Eli a gecko and I got Gary from Spongebob (appropriate). Jackson climbed the coconut tree .. we got drinks and headed back out to ride the 4-D ride one more time.

By the time we got in the car, we were all ready to go. Have to say that I can't remember a time when the boys and I had so much fun. I was glad they were mine ..

We were happy.
