A bad day turned good...

True happiness is spending all day with friends who make you laugh until you cry. Shay blogged today about and said that when you're with good friends EVERYTHING is funny. How true is that?

I really couldn't stop laughing. It started off as an extremely crappy day .. as today is the first day of spring and yesterday it snowed like 50 feet (okay .. more like 4 inches .. BUT STILL - we're working into spring for crying out loud). So I woke to puffy white stuff everywhere but by-golly .. we weren't going to cancel the lunch date we had. Ally came to the rescue with her 4x4 MONSTER TRUCK. We were totally safe .. picked up Shay and met Robin for lunch.

It was a fabulous lunch (although the girls made fun of my five veggie meal .. but come on - they were starchy and the okra was fried). During lunch we decided to drop the bomb on our non-shopper friend Shay that we needed to go all the way up to TJMaxx homegoods for some Easter goods. I was shocked that she didn't put up much of a fight. I really thought we were going to have to force her in the truck and slam the doors and lock them to get her there. Not so much. Seriously .. this won't make any sense to anyone else but me but I'm going to blog my highlights .. in simple words..

Alana "oh, they have ALL kinds of veggies on here .. grilled corn as well as fried corn" Shay "well, hmm .. how in the world do they do that? how would they keep the corn from falling through the grill things?". She's the most grounded of all of us, mind you. Allyson's reply "oh, they take these little bitty skewers .. and they put each individual kernel on .. it's really a lot of work"

Alana "RUH-ROH .. it Rooks Rike there was a Raxident"

Robin "OH.. the roads don't look bad but they are really slippery because yesterday was warm .. and all the trucks like leak oil on the roads. Right Shay? (silence) Shay agrees"

Alana "Robin, why are you wearing your sunglasses?" Robin "because it's just so bright in here and it's so blinding" (she was serious .. and it was a gloomy overcast day and we were in a truck with tinted windows)

Robin "My battery died on my cell phone .. can I use someones to call" Alana "sure, here's mine" Shay interrupts "no, no Alana .. we wouldn't want you to cut off your arm to do that .. here's mine instead".

In the store ... Shay doesn't realize that you can't stack things in the cart to "think about later". She's got this mortified look on her face when I put things in the cart (that she's pushing) that I might not even purchase.

Shay says she's got text envy around me "yeah, I keep checking my phone like constantly to see if I've got a text. Yeah, um... not yet. Nope, not now either". I sent her a few just to make sure she didn't feel so insecure about the whole text thing. No clue why she would feel that way .. I got my bill a few days ago and only had 10,000 just for my line.

The non-shopper that she is ... Shay panics when we get separated from Robin and Ally in the store. She's so stinkin' cute. I had to convince her it was going to be okay. Then proceed to drag her to the clothes section (she's still pushing the cart and it's so full she can barely see over the thing .. but I think it was good for her because it gave her something secure to hang on to)

It was the best day I have had in a really long time. There's truly nothing like good friends laughing to make you feel good from the inside out. Regardless of the weather or crappy things that go on around you.

I love my friends.

They put the sparkle in my life just in the right moment that I need it ...
