Dear Anonymous,
You are so thoughtful. Keeping me in check like that. Perhaps I should look a little more closely at the list of people I invited to my 'slumber party' Friday night. Now, I knew I might just possibly offend someone. Yes, yes I obviously did. It should be no surprise though, right? I mean .. I thought everyone knew I lived right on the edge of OFFENSIVENESS (is that a word?).
But, come on.. if you really, really didn't think my party was appropriate to be inviting all my Mormon friends to - I gave you the option of just deleting my email and moving on. Or Or Or .. wow - you could have just approached me with your true feelings. Nothing like "Alana, what you are doing is so completely offensive .. I think you should be cursed to hell for doing it". I'm sure I would have taken in the spirit it was intended. Really - am I THAT unapproachable for goodness sake?
But alas, once again, I get to hear it from my wonderful-down-to-earth-non-judgemental Bishop. Seems as if I'm always in that Principals office for something I've done. Vegas ... my daughter ... sex parties... I'm glad he sees me for who I am ... and allows me to be that person. We all makes choices .. good or bad. (me .. probably more bad than good - but hey, I'm still young and learning). BUT we all have consequences for those choices as well ... to be determined by - well, not you.
This is where you come in "anonymous". Did you think maybe I would be excommunicated? Maybe not that I 'would' but that I 'should'. Gracious. I love it when people feel the need to 'tell on me'..
I'm not sure what the goal was you wanted to accomplish... BUT here's the deal:
#1 - Party is still on for Friday night (and EVERYONE in the ward is invited)
#2- I wasn't excommunicated (come on .. you gotta do better than that!)
#3- The Bishop is really cool. When I say really cool .. I didn't get the impression he was real upset (I don't know about the stake president though - you could check with him .. he may not be as cool).
The beauty of this is... my email list wasn't that extensive. Process of elimination. Easy. I'm smarter than I look!
Thanks again for your concern. I'm glad I have good friends out there looking out for my best interest. If you change your mind .. I'm a pretty forgiving person and you're TOTALLY still invited to the party. Actually .. it may just loosen you up a bit.

Wow, this person must not realize just how common these parties are within the mormon community. It's too bad for her, she's missing out on a great time. (I'm REALLY bummed, by the way, that I can't go!!)

I AM SOOOO OFFENDED! NOOOOOT! You know how I feel! Dang! You and Eric getting called to the bishop's office all the time! I need to take a look at the company I keep! HA!(BTW-Bishop Burris is awesome! Just be glad you didn't get called in to the former's office for this! Eric got called in to his office for saying something about a lingerie party one time -not at church but at a baseball game! He was not as cool. I just told him I was tired of Eric getting called into the principals office for things that other people are too anally uptight about and that they all -including him- need to get a life. We would find a different ward if need be. You should have seen the shocked look on his face!) I love you guys and everything you are! Tell the crazy @#$%@ when you figure out who she is that she really needs to lighten up! I actually feel sorry for her, as she obviously has no idea what a great sex life is! Bring it on! I am looking forward to the partE!

I feel like I need to respond to this post to make sure I am not in any way under suspicion for this accusation. Maybe, by process of elimination, you should confront the said suspect face to face, and tell her(him) how this made you feel. The power of understanding is amazing when approached in person. If that doesnt work...a cat fight usually resolves the situation as well. Makes great blogging too!
What I liked was that Bishop Burris was wondering if the forwarded E-mail was an invitation! Sorry, girls only, but your wife is welcome! Classic Cal! Love him!
I'm not Mormon, but my church encourages accountability to each other as Christians. That being said, a much bigger lesson for us is "Judge not lest ye be judged." and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." This person must be a blameless saint. Couldn't she have just politely refused the invitation and/or deleted the e-mail and moved on with her self righteous life?! I would have a heart attack if I were ever summonsed to appear before our pastor on behavior charges. "Anonymous" is a coward not to speak to you directly if she felt so moved, and you are awesome, Alana.
