We woke this morning to yet another beautiful Colorado morning (beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? .. so really, it's not so beautiful to me). Actually "we" didn't all wake to the sight of the new fallen snow. More specifically, Hayley woke to my screaming voice at the door of her room. You have to understand my relationship with Hayley. It can be oh-so-wonderful but also oh-so-terrible-pull-your-hair-out kind of crap (I like this word). I can expect to wake up to at least one morning a week to Hayley still in the bed. Actually there have been some mornings that I wake, get the boys ready for school, out the door, start cleaning up the house, pass her bedroom only then to realize she's still in there.. asleep. She is supposed to be out the door by 6am for seminary. She (or really, more for me) also has a ride that is so very reliable. How hard can it be??
Sooo this morning was one of those hair pulling out kind of mornings. She was going to be late. Again. It's snowing. Of course. The driveway now has to be shoveled because I have to pull the car out of the garage. I also really love shoveling snow. To say I was in a bad mood is an understatement. At this moment I had a lightbulb moment. Why was I going to shovel the driveway? I wasn't the one who put us in this situation. I made her go out there and shovel. As I watched her through the window, it so warmed my heart (or was that the effect the hot chocolate was having on me?). I was starting to feel like a pretty mean mom. I quickly got over that and started yelling again. Through lots of fits and "HURRY UP" alreadys, we got out of the house and she got to school - in one piece and only 40 minutes late. I would say this morning was a success.
Here is a picture of her shoveling this morning. I couldn't resist. Isn't she precious?

I can see steam coming out of Hayley's mouth from all the "choice" words she has about you. This is great!! Love your personality Alana, you're fun to be with:)
Yipee!! I am so glad you caved and started writing! Anyway, didn't you have the 1 hour delay start today? So maybe she was 20 mins early?
There's Alyssa with the silver lining to the rescue! :) Is this going to be one of those life experiences she'll thank you for when she has her own kids? Hmmmmmmmm...I wonder.... ;) probaby not!

Hey!! I love this blog!! I am so excited to see you on here!!! Your picture is beautiful and I love your humor sneaking through! Welcome to bloggin!!
Alana you are so funny! I am so glad you have a blog! I can always count on you to entertain me! Maybe you could buy her a pink shovel for Christmas or if you really feel generous a snow blower just for her. Wrap the keys up in a box and watch the excitement until she sees what it is really. okay now it just got too fun for me, I don't even know if snow blowers have keys. I stay inside while everyone else shovels!!
By the way I saw on FB your sisters "baby bump" pulleeease.. I already look like that at 9 weeks. So not right!
