We are well into January and am still thinking about a New Year's resolution. I'm not a big fan. Does anyone ever keep them? I think that one of the reasons why I don't like them is because if I say it then I have to commit. That's the hard part. January is e-a-s-y but then June quickly arrives and 'resolution.. huh?'.
I just try to get through my week with a checklist. Does this count? For example, last week I accomplished a lot. Checked off cleaning my house, exercising every day, made and kept a doctor's appointment that I had been putting off, volunteered at school, got Jackson to scouts and Hayley to YW, celebrated a friend's birthday, had lunch with my dad, remembered to let my neighbor's dog out AND bonus remembered to take the trash to the curb Wed night.
It's all I can do to get through my week much less be concerned about a particular resolution I made the first week of January. Honestly, knowing me I would forget I even made a resolution.
So this year my resolution will be in short goals. Things to get accomplished monthly .. can't commit past a month. Like at least one 'big' thing. I think this month I will clean the carpets in my house. I've so been putting it off and it bothers me every time I walk on my carpets .. which only happens a few thousand times a day.
There. I did it. January's 'resolution' announced. How fun is that? Carpets. Maybe next month will be something more interesting. Can't think about that now though ... that's weeks away. One step at a time.

Alana, you go girl...this is the BEST new years resolution yet!!
For me, my resolution is to "Keep Life Simple" so if we pull together and remind one another each month of our goal then I know we will have a great and successful year! Love you friend:)
YES! I want to backtrack and do it your way, can I copy you?
oh heck yes .. ahh - the lazy way, always easier huh?
This post is so true for me too! I can't seem to committ to anything more than one week out. It's just too hard these days. I like your idea of a monthly goal. Oh, and my carpets are in need of a dire cleaning...yuck! But, now I find myself weighing the idea tha since we'll be moving at the end of May/early June...do I really need to clean them??? Or, can I get away with dirty carpets by just not turning on the bright overhead ceiling light!?!? Ahhh...I think I'll just think about it until next week...
Love ya friend!
If moer people would do a month to month resolution instead of a WHOLE dang year, more would get accomplished! Unless you are me and you have all these goals and after day 3 of the new year you have bbroke everyone of them.....
No, you do not need a dictionary to read the book! And I used to think you were the walking Old Navy advertisement!?:)
Your so wise, beyond MY years.
