I was just so ticked today. Argh. I got a notice in the mail from our HOA. Apparently I have a 'basketball hoop violation'. Honestly these people must not have a life. They get paid to drive around looking for ridiculous things to write you up for. I also have a violation because my house needs to be painted. So after I rip open this new notice from the HOA I was H-O-T. Then my mind just went berserk. We pay monthly (a lot!) for what? No pool. No clubhouse. I have yet to see a snow plow our streets. I had to call my bud Shay (who lives in my neighborhood too) to complain. After chewing her ear for a bit ... yelling about how we have to pay freakin' $60 a MONTH for what service?? She clues me in... telling me it's only $20 a month. I start to argue that point and end up pulling out my payment coupons. Um. Blush. Yeah. She's right. A great laugh. $20 a month .. $60 a quarter. Unfortunately since I have moved into this house I have been paying $60 a MONTH. I quickly call these HOA bubbas to ask how much in excess was my account. Yeah, only $545!!! Enough for over two additional years. Really, you would think maybe someone in that office could have sent me THAT notice to clue me in.
What I'm thinking is .. THEY are in violation. They should be offering to come paint my house!
I think I get so many violations because they have plenty of my money to buy extra stamps.
Okay, so maybe for $20 a month I shouldn't expect the pool and maybe not the clubhouse either.
The snowplow would be a nice touch though.

Ok so you totally just got my blood boiling! But then I had to laugh too. If we had an HOA we would be in violation of every bylaw. dog poop in the yard, trash cans left in front of the house, F350 parked in the driveway, ugly paint job, parent/child arguing... it would never end.
OK---that is HYSTERICAL!!!! I'm with you on the violations . . . but I'm sorry my friend, you paying $60 a month instead of $20 is HYSTERICAL!!! I knew I needed a good laugh today!!
As for the violations--our neighborhood is the same way. We've gotten 2--one for a spot of dirt the size of my hand on our house and one for our mailbox door. They brought ours to the house and failed to notice the neighbors car parked in HIS BACKYARD!!!!! Our association is run by a bunch of retired people who have nothing else to do but drive around! And we have over 3000 homes in my neighborhood!!
