I am a girl.
And I LOVE sports. LOVE. Love watching games. My hands get all sweaty. On the edge of my seat ... biting nails. Cheering for the team I want to win.
I don't think most girls like to watch sports. Not like I do. I would rather watch a game ... over anything else on tv. I'd rather GO to a game over .... going to the movies. Or anything else, for that matter.
I think there are a few things that are a must if you want to be a girl sports enthusiast. For me .. it's SUPER important to have a specific team to cheer for. Being in Denver ... that's easy. I've never lived in such an awesome sports state. We have all the major sports teams covered. Broncos ... Nuggets ... Rockies .. Avalanche ... Rapids ... Mammoth ... Covered. All. Bases.
So pick a team ... and go all out. By all out .. this includes team apparel. A must. You must wear your team ... to truly be a supporter. You can't really call yourself a supporter unless you are WEARING your gear game day.
This football season was a little more thrilling for me this year. A couple of reasons ... 1 - the Bronco's actually won a few games and even made it into the playoff's. 2 - Tim Tebow. Come on .. he's a household name. And he belongs to Denver. A fan? Absolutely. 3 - Eric Decker ...
sigh ...
It's NOW basketball season. Happens to be my ALL TIME FAVORITE sport. The Nuggets are doing quite awesome this year. Chauncey was my favorite player. I had a dream of rubbing his bald head. Then he was traded. Sorry Billups ... we had to break up. Ty Lawson took his spot in my heart.
Mostly because he always wears the coolest shoes on the team. See .. you have to relate to the game. Make it yours. Shoes do that for me. Ty became a stud. Mostly because he could feel my support. The first game of the season ... I made my appearance ... and after the game I scored his headband.
He feels me. I also like Gallinari. The new Italian muffin on our team. He looks like my brother in law Joe.
You're welcome Joe
BUT we are now into the month of January and I've made a turn. I have a new favorite. A few weeks ago I made another appearance at a game. Sat pretty close to the Nuggets bench. Close enough to have some eye contact with Corey Brewer.
Close enough to carry on a conversation with him. Close enough to know he's a pretty decent guy. Close enough to score his headband too.
He killed it that game. Three pointers all over the board. So basically Corey and I have a special relationship. He's a GREAT player. And HANDS DOWN MY #1 ... loyal to this boy. (right. I don't plan on dumping this stud. unless .. of course .. he gets traded ...)
So bring on the sports. Pick a team. Get a shirt. Go to a game. Yell at your TV.
It's not just for boys. Love. Me. A girl.
