You have to try out for the team. Jackson one of the ones chosen from Flagstone. He's a pretty quick runner .. and he will continue to do track in middle school.
I didn't realize track meets are ALL FREAKING DAY LONG. So many events ... a lot of time waiting around to see my kid in the events he did run in. I don't wait well.
He did great ... although talking to him afterwards was painful. Well .. I shouldn't say talking - as he wouldn't speak to me. I guess when you don't do as well as you THOUGHT you should have done it gives you the right to be extremely grumpy.
Regardless, I was proud. He competed in about four different events.
While I was watching him do the long jump a mom was next to me asking which kid was mine. That one. Jackson. She paused .. ohhh .. "Wester". Right. Still cracks me up that everyone (to include parents) know him by his last name.
It's actually pretty cool to have a kid love the same sport I like participating in. Keep running Jackman!

I ran track in elementary school and high school. Yes indeed, the track meets take all day long. And in elementary you can compete in as many events as you like. I used to try to do them all. I'd leave every meet fried like an egg from the blazing sun. But it was a blast. Grumpy or not he will be glad that you were there and saw what he did one day. My parents barely acknowledged that I was involved in sports at all. If they were present it was only because they had to drive me. It matters that you're proud of him.
That is SO cool! I love his shoes! What a great athlete you've got Alana! Go Jackson!!
Good job on your son! Sounds like he's on his way to being a real athlete.
