Summ ... er .... time ....

Actually I feel like summer is FLYING by.  I can't believe it's almost the end of July.  Honestly .. I look forward to this season all year round and especially in Colorado it just doesn't last near as long as I think it should.

The pool is where I would like to live.  The pool is a place I've only been to a handful of times this summer.  Why?  Because every time I mention "hey boys ... let's pack up and go to the pool.  wanna?"  and I get hit with NOOOOOOOO!!!

And this summer the "no" has trumped the "yes".  Because it's just too painful if I force it.

But last week I pulled the mom card.

"boys I have an announcement to make"

Stares ...

"every week .. once a week .. we are going to the pool, until school starts.  do you understand?"

More Stares.  Then Jackson glares at me .. tears well up and he runs up to his room and slams the door.  Honestly .. you would have thought I just informed them they are doing chores .. 7 days a week for 8 hours a day.  I stood there with my mouth open.  Eli looks at me and says "you are the meanest mom ever".

Well.  Okay then.  We are going to the pool once a week, every week until school starts.  And I have a feeling not one of us will be enjoying this.

These pictures don't accurately tell the story.  In between the shots it was ...

"when are we going home?"

"he got my towel wet mom"

"my feet hurt"

"I think I'm burning"

"do you have money mom?"

"can I go to the car to look for money. I really want a snack"

"why DIDN'T you bring money"

"I'd actually like this place if you brought money for snacks"

"no, I don't want the snacks you packed us"

"Jackson hit me"

"Eli is annoying"

"can we go NOW mom?"

"Now my towel is soaked.  How am I supposed to dry off?"

But they beg to go to the Rec center all the time.  To the indoor pool.  Who's kids are these???

I don't have kids. So many of my friends tell me they wish they could get rid of their kids, just give them away. I always offer to take them and then they realize they would never give them up for anything. Annoying, but worth it apparently.
