Have I ever mentioned I love the Nuggets?
Well. I do. Basketball is my favorite sport. I think I've mentioned that too.
What's not to love? Add to that ... I'm fascinated by the enormous bodies. How do you breed that? The closer you get to the players you realize just how huge they really are. On TV they all seem relatively normal. Maybe because they are all the same size. All the Smurfs are the same size too. Until you realize they can sit on mushrooms. So when all the giants are playing together ... normal.
Until they are just right in front of you. Just wow.
Love the game. Love the players. Love the atmosphere. Love the color of the basketball.
I also love to be upfront. Close. Close enough to carry on conversations.
Am I lucky? Maybe. Am I blessed? Quite certain.
Yo Jordan .. can I see your watch?
Yo Cory .. can I have your shirt? Oh. You need to wear it? Ok then give me your headband.
Sometimes though ... close ... is too close ...
LeBron ... (half our Elf's namesake)
Clippers game. This was one of the funniest games I've ever been to. There were two guys sitting behind us and they picked Griffon to yell at the entire game. We were right by the visitors bench which made it all the more funny. It went something like this ..
"Hey Blake .. it's okay buddy. You only missed one.
Hey Blake ... it's okay .. we all need practice.
Hey coach .. why'd you take Blake out? He wants back in. Put Blake back in..
Hey Blake .. your foot's on the line"
All. Night. Long. These are the things you don't get to see when watching on TV. Butler didn't find the two fans all that amusing. Him and the fan had a stare down contest. Until Butler winked at the guy. By the end of the night .. the Clippers were losing. And Blake was less than amused. Standing at the foul line when yet another "Hey Blake your foot's on the line" comment ... Blake did a very exaggerated lift of his foot and stomped outside the line.
Okay .. maybe this is all funnier than it sounds. But swear .. if you were there .. you would have laughed with me.
During this OKC game the assistant coach would look at me and says "that was SUCH a bad call .. wasn't it? You know .. don't you?" Yes Melvin. It was. Stupid ass ref.
The Spurs. Jackson went with me to this game - this is how mom rolls for date night. I think his cheeks hurt from smiling for 3 hours. He had such a great time. He shares my love for basketball. Yes .. this child is mine.
Observation #598 though is that ... no one that plays the Nuggets likes Kenneth Faried. They all complain about him. Which amuses me to watch. It's also amazing to me that no one fouls. Ever. Me? No .. I didn't. And pretty sure arguing with the ref is going to get the ref to change his mind. Every last time. "But... dude .. he ... I .. didn't ..."
For the love of the game.
For the love of the players.
I put Eli's basketball hoop up in the living room. I'm not sure if it's such a great idea. Or if it goes with the rest of the decor. But I don't care. Because this ADHD mom had about four hours of fun with the boys shooting hoops and making up games. No one got hurt and nothing got broken. And I won. But that's besids the point when I make up the rules.
