My 10 year old is obsessed too.
His obsession is not Pinterest though.
It's with llamas.
His screen name for his Instagram account is "llamacornlover"
That's right.
Why son?
Because mom .. llamalover was taken.
I'm not sure what was more funny. The fact that he wanted that name or that it was already taken.
So he draws pictures of llamas. With a unicorn horn. And googles pictures. Of llamas. Baby llamas. Pet llamas. Llamas. He writes about llamas.
I asked him one day - Eli what's the deal with llamas? Why on earth do you like them?
Mom. You can't explain a llama. And that's why I like them.
Naturally he is my kid.
A few weeks ago he's lying in the bed texting beside me and says ..
check out what I just texted to dad. with my nose. I texted with my nose mom.
We watch the Nuggets games together. There is one player that really bugs him. Kosta Koufos. Every single time the guy steps on the court Eli starts in "what is wrong with him mom? I can't even look at him. Why does he look that way? Why is he so young but he looks so old? Who let him out of his cage? Look away mom .. look away - he's back on the court!"
Oh ... Eli.
And I like winning even when he's persistent.
He brought this home from school. "I wrote a haiku today in school. It's pretty awesome"
I just love this boy. I understand this boy. I look at him and see me. His brain works the same as mine. And some people don't understand that randomness. But I do. I get it. Sometimes it's hard to be locked inside the brain we have to work with. Yet other times it can be so much fun.
It's okay Eli. I got your back.

Oh my gosh I love you both SO, so much! This had me dying!! Seriously, rolling on the floor laughing. Love you guys!
I love how much you love your son. I say this as a son who needed that kind of love and never found it. I used to draw all day and show the drawings to my mom. She'd be annoyed that I was distracting her from her book or just sort of "mmm hmm" at them and then ignore them. Eventually I stopped showing them to her, but I kept on drawing. I needed the internet so I could have shown my drawings to someone else.
