projects ...

Think black doors scare me?

Clearly they should.

But apparently like child birth ... I forget the pain ... and decide - hey - let's get back on Pinterest and come up with MORE projects to do.

Like paint.  My bedroom.  And master bath.  Grey.

Do you know how many shades of grey there are?  Don't even make a joke.  I know.  50.

That's a lie.  It's closer to 50,000.

I would buy a sample.  Put it on my wall.  Nope.  Back to another sample.  Nope.  Another.  Nope.  So maybe it was Home Depot's fault I couldn't find just the right shade.  Sherwin Williams.  Three times. Nope.
Maddening.  I would put a color on.  Put more on.  Then it looked blue.  That wasn't my goal.

I had so many different grey's on my wall - I then was forgetting which grey was which.  Tip .. label them ON the wall as you go.  Lining the little jars up on the desk isn't a fail-proof technique.

Okay ... so after many frustrating days .. that turned into weeks... I discovered that first I had to prime my walls.  Once I did that - ta-da ... GREY NOT BLUE.

Finally finally finally picked the shade I wanted.

Started with the bathroom make-over ..

Before ...

Transition to grey ... (finally painted my bathroom doors black too .. I know... a year later.  A not so funny story is that you should always make sure at night all the black doors are open.  Because in the middle of the night a black door looks open.  Then you walk face first into it.  Yeah.  It happened)

After (kind of) ..

Then I read on Pinterest about bead board wall paper.  Well .. that sounded a whole lot easier than cutting a bunch of wood.  I have quickly realized I am not super handy.  I also was well aware that I am not a great decision maker .. but wow - this whole re-making my space was brutal.

So then I ALSO read on Pinterest (right.  i like pain.) that you can paint your cabinets white with no sanding.
Easy.  Cool.  Lets get on it.

Before ...

Except this wasn't as easy ... this non sanding thing.  That turned into about 7 coats of paint.  Meaning ... sanding would have been just as easy.

But the bead board I have to say .. was as easy as they said it was.  Score!

Here's what is not a score ...

Why you don't hammer dry wall anchors into the wall.  The shelf comes out with all the anchors.

and maybe measuring is a good idea...
Nailed it.

Bathroom - DONE!!

Next up ... bedroom ...

Again .. paint choice.

Don't really have any before pics.  Way to go me. (but it wasn't grey.  I had a red quilt .. with red accents. very different)

After ...

Have to say ... my life saver during this period of time was Ally.  (enter heavenly music).  She helped me paint my entire bedroom.  Prime and all.  Do you know how much time that saved me?  Not only that ... choices ... choices ... I needed major help.  She went shopping with me.  Dealt with my annoying "I don't knows".  So it came together nicely ... after she got involved.  Shout out to my girl!

Gracious Pinterest.  I actually love my room.  It's my favorite place in my house.  And now I love it even more.  I feel like it's my very own private oasis.  I walk in and exhale.

Exhale....

Wow, that looks like a lot of work. But if you're happier with it now then it was totally worthwhile.

Live and learn. Theres a lot of things Pinterest doesn't tell you. Lol. I love that canopy on your bed. The grey came out really nice. Good job.
