Please don't get all offended. And after this post ... I hope we can all still be friends. (but if not .. it wasn't meant to be anyway)
So ... all of the professional sports are now dominated by ... the black race. Am I supposed to say African-American? That just sounds so ... unlike what everyone says. I mean ..let's be real ... we don't all walk around saying did you see that african-american guy? That african american guy plays great ball. Hello ... none of us do. I say - oh my gosh .. check out that black dude ... he's got some massive muscles going down. If you argue with me .. I will shut you down .. because you know I'm not lying about this. All of us pasty white's do it.
Back to hockey. So .. NBA .. massive black guys. NFL ... massive black dudes (with the exception of quarterbacks ... kickers ... and the love of my life - Eric Decker) ... MLB ... Olympic track ...
You see where I'm going.
Hockey .. my kid might actually have a chance.
And NO .. do NOT call me racist. Don't even. Because actually .. I have nothing but respect. Respect for the way that body is built. They are just bigger. Faster. Stronger. It's obvious. Clearly the NBA is my favorite sport ever to watch. And there's no denying .. any white guy who plays .. is just ... plain .. awkward.
Back to hockey. Again. My Eli played for his 6th season. Got on an awesome team that went all the way to the play off's without a single game lost. They did lose the play off game in a sudden death. As he tells me after ... that's cool to be on an awesome team but please next year don't request that team? Why buddy? Because when I'm on a team that sucks .. I get to make more goals. He's a thinker.

OK, I don't even hear black people in Memphis saying "Africa American" so you're good. The only people who say it are white liberal ivy league professors (who invented it in the first place) and network reporters trying not to sound white. But its just super white to say. It's lame.
Hockey. Hmm, how to say this? Have you read the book "The Outliers" by a guy whose name is escaping me but he's part white Englishman and part Jamaican (or would that be African-Jamaican?) Anyway, he had a whole big chapter on the Canadian hockey program and how they choose the kids for their teams and how it basically makes it impossible for kids born after April to ever make it to the top (when is your son's birthday?) and all this other stuff. I can't remember it all. The point is, even in hockey there is this barrier that most people didn't realize was there, but its not a black barrier. It's a Canadian-born-in-January barrier. If nothing else the book is fascinating. It's an easy read. And you'll learn cool things you never knew before.
