Obsessive kid

OCD ... not sure where Eli gets it.

This year in 6th grade they got to go to what's called "Outdoor Ed".  It's a three day .. camp-like experience where the entire 6th grade goes to learn about ... I don't know - outdoor stuff?  I'm super in-tune and clearly read all the fine print sent home from school.  But I did sign it.

For weeks he was soooooo excited.  They were going to get to sleep in this cabin.  And hike.  And zip line. With all of your classmates.  How cool is that?  If you're a boy, anyway.

The closer the day came .. the more he was obsessing about the shower situation.

Mom ... I found out today that we can only have one shower.  One.  Mom.  What am I going to do?  I mean - MY HAIR!!

Every day ... every single day he would worry about this problem.  He was thinking at one point he might could sneak into the shower.  Or maybe he could wet it in the sink every morning. Or maybe he just wouldn't sleep.  Or maybe he could sleep propped up on a pillow and not move his head.  Apparently his hair is extremely important.

So the night before .. he comes into my room wearing a beanie.

Son ... why?

Well I have it figured out.  If I take a shower at night ... then I will put this beanie on to sleep ... and then when I wake up .. I take the beanie off and ta-da .. my hair will be the same.

Okay E .. rock on.

I guess the shower was a non issue ... because he didn't mention it when he came home afterwards.  I heard about the zip line .. and stories .. and the food .. and the beds ... and the leaders ... but not once did I hear about his hair.

(a pic sent from his teacher .. on his trip.  His hair is lookin' pretty fly under that helmet)
