This is the year I researched where to take the kids to the best beach in Florida. Lots of that research brought my attention to the west side of Florida. The gulf side. To a beach called Siesta Key. With promises of clear water and white sand. Sold. For the first time I actually rented a little house. 2 bedrooms with a pool. There were even beach bikes at the house.
The first day we were there, there was a thunderstorm approaching but didn't really keep us from riding as quickly as we could to the beach to check it out.
It. Did. Not. Disappoint. This was probably one of the most memorable vacations I've had with the kids. We put technology down. We old school rode bikes. We hung out. Talked. Ate ice cream. We were sun kissed and sandy and so happy. The kids discovered a sand bar that went way out into the ocean. Which pretty much freaked me out and I cause a little teeny tiny scene. But it's whatever. Memories. Right?
There was even a little canal in the back of the house we stayed in. The kids sat out and fished one day.
And worn out ...
After 5 days at Siesta Key we drove up to Jacksonville to visit Ashley and her family. The highlight of that trip for the boys was shark fishing with Pete. Hayley got to hang out with her best friend ... and yes, so did I!
The best of times. You can see it on all of our faces.
