Mean People Suck

It's 1:30 in the afternoon.
We are in the commissary.
We are going to be late for my nephew's birthday party.
Quickly trying to get what we need and get out of the store.
I am behind an old couple. A slow one. Typical for the commissary though. I've had to learn patience.
Jackson asks if he can go find a snack mix. No problem buddy.
He goes in between the old couple not realizing the old lady was closing in.
Me.. "Jackson, please watch where you are going."
Old lady "WATCH IT KID ..."
Eli is going to follow his brother but clearly steers away from the grumpy old couple.
Old man "HEY KID WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND QUIT YOUR RUNNING!"
Me. Still behind them. Can't keep my mouth shut .. "um, yeah those are my children and I am their mother and I will do the disciplining, thank you."
(it is my God-given right as a mother to be able to tell my children what to do .. I carried these boys for 9 months ... I am the one who went through labor with them... don't you dare step in and take over like it's your right)
Old man "Well, if you are the parent then you should act like the parent and take care of your kids."
OH NO HE DIDN'T!!!!!
I am a pretty non confrontational kind of girl. Anyone who knows me knows that. Attack me on that level and the claws WILL come out.
I lost it on the old man and had a few choice LOUD words to say to him .. loud enough that Sean quickly rounded the corner to see why I had lost control in public.
Sean took over from there. I had to walk away. It was very quiet. Mouths were hanging open and the aisle parted like the red sea to let me and my cart pass. Left Papa bear there to do his thing.
THE NERVE!

Oooh honey! You know you never mess with a mother's God given right to discipline! That old man should have known better! Did you ask him where his mom was and why she didn't teach him any manners???

Love those Papa bears-- why is it mine is never around when I need him? It's not fair that when us mama bears have to fight the battles we lose a lot of credibility because we (me)get sooo angry and confrontational.

Been there. You totally did the right thing. One of my big pet peeves is when someone,of any age, tries to discipline my children. That is so not okay.

Really...age is no excuse for bad breath or bad manners.

You did better than me...
When Ryan was about 4 yrs old we were at Walmart and he was crying uncontrollably. An old man who was at another check out line turned around and YELLED "HEY SHUT UP"!Luckly Ryan was oblivious to the whole ordeal.
I've been looking for the old man ever since! Oh the vengence of a woman!! lol
Glad you stuck up for the boys!!
