5K for Vision Health

Ran another race this weekend. Michelle and I decided to sign up for this one because it seemed 'easy' after our 1/2 marathon.

This one was right here in Castle Rock. Crystal Valley Ranch to be specific. It wasn't even that early either .. 10am. I can do that right? AND make it to church by 1pm.

We also met up with Amy Oney .. whom I didn't really know before but got to know her that morning. She's a fun girl!

We were confused at first as to where exactly we were running. It ended up to be around Loop Rd. Michelle lives there so assured me at the starting line that it would be a piece of cake. SHE IS A LIAR!!

It was all freakin' uphill. I was sucking air bad. My entire lower body was burning. Not only was it uphill, it was windy and 50 degrees outside. Freezing! It really was so much harder than the 1/2 I did last month. I don't know if it was because I didn't train for this one? I run almost every day but long runs. This was short and I should have been training for speed.

Whatever .. I finished but thought I was going to die.

Michelle did awesome too. I was as proud of her as I was myself. I love doing races with this girl .. she totally keeps me motivated!

So we finish and walk back down to the park because we just knew we were going to win something in the raffle. They did the race places first.

Well, seriously .. they called my name for THIRD PLACE! Shocked to say the least .. Michelle yells "SHUT - UP!!"... It was hysterical. Not that I won anything to take home but a medal but that's okay. Next year I will totally try harder cause the first place winner got dinner for 8 at a nice restaurant - NO FAIR!

Oh and we didn't win anything in the raffle either.

That's okay .. we're ALL winners, right?

Ok really, how sorry for you am I supposed to be? "It was so hard, it was uphill, whine, whine, whine... oh yeah, I got 3rd." You are my hero.

3rd place, you're a rockstar! And I walk Loop rd every morning, and I'll vouch for you that it somehow manages to be uphill the whole way.

I'm proud of you for doing this. Now that I've started running with Joe, I understand how much dedication and discipline goes into something like this. You go girl!
