Boys and basketball

The boys are both playing basketball this year. First organized sport they have ever played. They love it. Both of them. Games are every Sat .. and it's great that they get to get some of their extra winter energy out.

Eli has discovered since playing this sport .. just how much he likes athletic clothes. Makes me laugh .. he's into clothes and Nike shoes. He traded me a Target gift card he got for Christmas for cash so he could spend it in the Nike store instead.

Eli's coaches are awesome .. three of them, all related. They have taught Eli some sweet skills. The games are SO MUCH FUN to go to. The score isn't officially recorded but all the kids know EXACTLY how they did after the game.

Jackson's coach isn't quite as cool as Eli's. He also has lost every single game so far. Kind of sad - and it's definitely taken the wind out of his sail.
Eli is signing up for in-line hockey next month and is pumped for it. Somehow, I always knew Eli would be into sports and Jackson not so much. Jackson announced he only wants to play basketball. Not interested in any others at the moment.

However, he is in the Math Club at school and loves it. Hmm ... I'll just say this kid takes after his dad.

Hayley's boyfriend went to Jackson's game yesterday while I had to go to Eli's. He reported back to me that basketball may not be the sport for Jackson. Really .. why? "Some kid on the other team got knocked down .. so Jackson goes over to him .. gives him a hug and makes sure he's okay". What's wrong with having a heart? Eli would have been the one to knock the kid over and then stepped on him as he ran away.

Funny how different their personalities are ...

So basketball it is. I happen to LOVE basketball .. so this season has been especially fun for me. Randomly, when Jackson and Eli got their shirts .. they are both #5. Meant to be...

I found Ethan's old hockey gear. Let me know when you want to get it. Good luck!

Jackson and Eli remind me so much of my Kyle and Mason. So funny..can you figure out which one is which? Kyle is my brainy, soft hearted boy and Mason is my rough and tumble, "I'd rather be playing" kid. Loved the story about Jackson hugging the other player. :)
