I love Christmas. I just don't love decorating for Christmas. I have always been like this. Not something I am proud of but I just don't look forward to getting it all out, unpacking the stuff, putting it up, trying to make the kids smile at the camera and look happy as we are decorating the tree.. when obviously they would rather be playing with friends. Not to mention it's not even up for that long. Then you just have to go through the whole process again taking it down.
This year especially with our family not complete, it was even harder to think about getting all that crap (again.. that word) out by myself. Welp, we are well into December and it had to be done. The boys kept asking when the tree was going up ("when you put it up" .. wasn't a kind response).
I enlisted Hayley's help to get all the boxes down. When Sean was home on leave last month, he so kindly cleaned up the garage for me. That also meant organizing the stuff that was on a high shelf. Meaning all the Christmas stuff is now up there nice and neat. And high. Really high. One of the many downfalls of being a single parent right now is just simply the lack of help. Hayely tries. Sometimes.
So Hayley to the rescue. Rescue? I first tried to get a ladder to reach the stuff. It still wasn't high enough. Hayley is taller than me but not as strong so that didn't work having her get on the ladder either. I then moved to the table that was under the shelf thinking that might work and it was a bit sturdier. Still, no luck. That's when I asked Hayley to go get me the stool. She came back with that and the camera. Great. But heck, good memories as we were laughing pretty hard at this point. She being no help to me at all .. just cracking up.
I put the stool on top of the table and only then was I able to reach. Hayley decided this was a grand moment for pictures. Instead of helping .. she was going to be a photographer. I couldn't get mad because at that point I realized how ridiculous I looked.
SO I am now going to post the "picture" she took of this Christmas 'moment in time' .. that really wasn't a "picture" at all. Even as terribly embarrassed as I am with this (and completely should be and you will agree) I will publish anyway. For memories sake. *Keep small children away!*

what a cherished close up of your bottom...we so so love our kids, don't we?
HAHAHAHAHA!!! "Mom! You said we need to cherish this moment!" Hahaha. That is AWESOME. My fave was, "Mom, you're so dumb. I'm not taking a picture, its a video!" Kids are great!
I LOVE the banter between you and Haley!! Awesome! Makes me so look forward to Rebekah being 14. Maybe it's your background music, maybe it's the fact that it's been so long since I've seen you, but that video made me teary eyed! I just love your blog and only wish that we could be closer so we could be part of each other's lives!
That was a good one! My girls will NEVER get that old RIGHT????
hahahahahaha!! Alana, I LOVED that video!! It was so good to hear your voice and to see you laughing!! That was great!
Okay, I would of been rolling on the ground laughin...I just pictured Rhylee doing the same thing. The good news is you can always look back in 20 yrs with a smile:)
You two have such a GREAT relationship. You are lucky!
And I always thought you had a greta looking butt!
I hope Sean got a good look at the last part of the butt, I mean video! Hey, thanks for letting Ethan hang out with the boys today, sure beats his "dumb sisters"(that quote being straight from Ethan's mouth!).
