Witnessing a Miracle..

A miracle ...

That is what I experienced March 16, 2009. My sister called me at 2am in labor with her second child. I went to the hospital just after she had the epidural around 4am. She wasn't in any pain and progressed pretty quickly. By 9:30 she was ready to push. Joe and I by each side. Both mom's each with one leg. **I got to count!** Natalie really did such an incredible job. Really .. she did this with grace. Her first son came by emergency c-section so this was the first time she had gone through pushing and delivering. I noticed somewhere after the 5th push that my stomach was hurting ... I realized there was no need to push myself.

9:54 AM little Travis Lawrence Huapala Doxey made his way into this world. Took his first breath. I hesitate to even blog this because it just seems so sacred to try and put into words how I felt at that moment. I could feel the very second that little spirit joined us... the room was filled with that presence. Powerful at best. Amazing. Like nothing I have ever ever experienced in my life. I sobbed. Sobbed. I am sobbing now from the memory. I was way more emotional than even when my own children came into this world. There's a completely different perspective being on the other side of the bed .. not in it! He was just so perfect. I couldn't speak .. it took my breath away.

I will always always be grateful to my sister for letting me be apart of that joy. Of that experience. Of that miracle.

There's nothing like a newborn baby. Soft as silk.. the smell.. the newness...

That is incredible! I was in the room with Laura when she had her daughter and I was just as emotional then as when I have my own babies. I love it.
