Pinterest = evil

So November 1st ... on my birthday ... I was exploring this new site all the perfect moms are on.  Right.  Bad idea.

Pinterest.

Ridiculousness.

I resisted for such a long time.  Facebook already sucks most of my ADHD mind. I really don't need another distraction.  Much less one that creates ideas where in my head I think ... not only that I can accomplish the project, but do a pretty awesome job at it.

It all looks simple enough.

For example.  On the said day Nov. 1st.  I am looking at the most popular pins and come across this ...

At 9am I thought ... oh .. I love that.  I want BLACK DOORS.  All on my lower level.  In fact, I want those TODAY.  Yup ... it's my birthday and I'm painting some black doors.  The end.

After the gym I went and picked up my supplies ... and got started.  About an hour into this awesome project .. I was thinking that perhaps this wasn't such an awesome project.  I was bored.  And it wasn't easy.  And my back hurt.  And I was going from door to door to door without finishing the previous door.

Jackson walks in from school "OH MY GOSH MOM - WHY ARE YOU RUINING OUR HOUSE?!"

Because Pinterest said so my son.  And because once you are semi - half way into painting your interior doors black ... let me tell you - there is NO going back.  So you have to keep telling your inner self who wants to scream and give up to calm down it's gonna be great.

Great.

So I painted four doors.  And then the never ending project came to life.  Oh wait.  Brass door knobs and hardware look hideous with black doors.  Why didn't Pinterest tell me that?

Home Depot.  New door knobs.

Note to self for the future when I'll never do this again ... Do NOT open ALL of the door knobs .. and then mix them all up and forget which one goes to what door.

Door knobs on. (yeah .. pat on the back .. I changed four door knobs that included two outside doors)  Wait .. what the heck - you have to do the HINGES too.  S*#@

Back to Home Depot.

Take doors OFF the hinges so you can put new hinges on.  Then you have to put the doors back ON.  Hayley and I almost died, fyi.  The garage door has to be the heaviest damn thing EVER.  And taking off spring loaded hinges is something I will also NEVER do again.  Noted.  I would like to keep all my fingers.

Also ... when putting doors back on the hinges .. there is a certain way you have to put them on.  Because if not .. then the doors do NOT align.  Like .. there is an upside down way to do it ... and it's not the right way. And also you can put a door back on the hinges and the door will not close.  Right.  Also noted.

So new door knobs.  New hardware.  Wait a minute.  The trim.  Looks horrible.  It's the same color as the walls.

Back to home depot.  White paint for trim.  Paint door trim.  Step back.  S*#@.  ALL of the trim is like connected.  Get that?  Are you following?  All of it.  And all of it is the same color as my wall color.  Who the hell painted the inside of my house and more importantly why haven't I ever noticed this before?  Well ...

See... the left side is the newly painted... right side is same color as wall.

Now I have to paint ALL THE TRIM ON MY ENTIRE MAIN LEVEL BECAUSE IT'S ALL CONNECTED.

As I was painting the baseboards and trim white ... I realize my kitchen cabinets need to be white now.  As does the banister ... with some black to match my doors.

The project isn't even finished and it's two months later. I can't seem to find the motivation to stay with this. My attention span is so short anyway ... I had NO idea it was going to take so .. much ...focus.

So Pinterest.  Go to hell.  This is the last time I try to follow the cool mom world.
