It's been 3 years .. okay?

In the middle of my door painting fiasco.  I decided to take a break.  Well .. I think it was more like a distraction.  Like what can I come up with that's SUPER important that will take my mind off this damn project?

Oh ... I know I know .. another project.

Find Alana another car, project.

It has been three years since I made my impulse decision to purchase my BMW.  And although .. I have adored my car ..it had a lot of miles on it.. the warranty had expired ... and it was costing a good amount every month to fix little things.

And I've been pretty good about getting the dealership to charge me less for some of the expenses.

When there is an issue .. I take my car in ... they say what is wrong and how much it's going to be to fix it.  My standard response is always the same "well, I don't want to pay that".  Then the game starts.  Well Ms. Wester that's how much it's going to cost to fix it.  Here's what the parts are .. here's the labor.  "Okay first of all, let's call me Alana and I get that ... but I am not going to pay that".  Well .. you have to.  "Honestly .. please don't make me take off my sweatshirt ... because it's getting like warm in here.  Fine .. I will .. and I'm really not going to pay that".  I would say something like 95% of the time they come down around 30-40%.  But it's more accurately like 100% of the time that it's happened.

So one of the lessons in this post is that you should NEVER pay what someone tells you to pay.  Just say you don't want to.  Then you aren't going to.

Anyway ... even with the sweatshirt off discounts I was receiving .. it was still becoming not worth it to keep the car.

I might be justifying but whatever.

So car searching began.

I thought maybe I'd go Mercedes this time.  But there was a certain one .. with certain features ... in a certain color ... and there are only three dealerships in the state of Colorado.  And then that specific search wasn't producing my car.  I did end up test driving a Mercedes though.  And I kept asking the dealer to please tell me what was so special about that car because I wasn't seeing it.  His standard answer was coming back to "well .. it's a mercedes" .. yeah well ... my name is Alana.  Walked away.

Bottom line .. what did I end up with after weeks of dealership hopping?

Yeah.  The same car.  What I already have.  Only newer.  And a different color.  Did you know I like routine?  It felt right when I drove it.  Wonder why?

Went to one out of the 3 BMW dealerships to purchase my car.  Because I knew what I wanted before I walked in.  The dealer was about 65 years old.  And he did not find my humor funny.  He did not get my jokes.  I said something inappropriate and he found it inappropriate.  So I had to leave.  With no car.  Refused to buy from him.

So the next day I took myself to the second BMW dealership.  I sat in my car.  Outside.  Didn't move. I did an interview process in my head.  With each dealer that walked by.  Watched.  Observed.  Too old.  Too Italian.  Pants too tight.  Then one passed and I figured he would do so I followed him inside.  Apparently he was in finance and couldn't help me buy.  So I asked if I could walk by all the offices .. to look at the dealers.  I said I had to feel this out.  Then I found one and asked if I could have "him".

Okay .. this is getting long.

This new guy found me funny.  And we related.  And I bought a car that day.  And I got a smoking great deal.  The same line works pretty good for car buying as well .. "I don't want to pay that.  I won't pay that.  I don't want to pay that either.  Nope not that either.  Yes.  Yes.  That will do"

So yeah.  I have a new car.

old one

new one (looks a lot the same huh?  I like familiar)

So basically I got the same car.  Newer year.  Almost no miles.  Went from 330 to 335.  And changed the exterior and interior colors.  Ballin'

As I was cleaning out my old car ... I found this ... how appropriate.  On the drivers seat ..

It's spongebob's hand.  No clue how it got there.  But I imagined him waving goodbye and that he approved of my new car.  Goodbye and high five.

Welcome to my life pretty.  We are going to have fun aren't we?  But when we see cops this time .. we slow down, okay?

But basically all of that meant I got to stop painting for three weeks.

Now what?

It's totally different - the exhaust pipes are divided and on both sides of the car now -- totally different! :) You make me smile, friend!

OK, damn network lost my comment and it was long, too.

Nice car. I just bought a new car a few weeks ago. I wish you had been with me to help me negotiate.
