To remember what's important ...

Hayley and I were having a discussion in the kitchen one day..

One of my really good friends is going through a pretty difficult situation.  Her dad was diagnosed with cancer and only has a few more months to live.  It's heartbreaking to watch unfold.  How do you make peace with death?  How do you share ... and love ... and take advantage of the time ... when you know the clock is ticking?  It's such a reminder that life can be taken away in an instant.  To enjoy the moments you have with those who are the most important to you.

Which Hayley and I chatted about.  The what-if's.  The question ... would you want to know the exact time of your death?  There are benefits to knowing .. and not.  And ultimately it comes down to showing and expressing love ...during the time you have it.  Because you never know when that time is up.  We talked about what's important in life.  What things we stress about that really don't even matter in the end.  We talked about focusing on the positive.  About the importance of family.

It was a good talk.

She left and life went about as usual.  And then this text rolled in from her ...

I love when she shares what's in her heart.  I read it ... but I can also feel the words.  And that  ... is priceless.

I appreciate moments like this .. where I can step back to look at the whole picture.

Heart squeezes.  xo
